Each participant is expected to bring the following equipment:

Notebook and writing utensilsHelmetLeather gloves
Appropriate outdoor clothing for inclement weatherPersonal descent control device (ATC)Large backpack
Hiking/climbing or work bootsRainwear4 locking carabiners
10 metres of 8mm nylon kernmantle cord10 meters of 6 mm nylon kernmantle cord (for Purcell prusiks)Harness: full body or sit/chest combination
5 metres of 25 mm or wider nylon webbing (to construct a chest harness and connector strap)

Students are expected to have a working knowledge of the following:

3:1 systems, 5:1 systems, use of MPD’s, basic knots- bowline, figure eight family, prusik and square knot.
